Arvest Foundation provides $5,000 to Special Olympics Arkansas

The Arvest Foundation recently announced a $5,000 grant to support Special Olympics Arkansas’ activities in Area 2, which covers Baxter, Boone, Marion, Carroll, Newton and Searcy counties.

Arvest Bank associates joined David McBee, sales manager for Arvest Bank, to present a check on behalf of the Foundation to Keeshia DeShields, regional development coordinator, and Charity Tovey, Area 2 director of Special Olympic Arkansas, and local Special Olympics Athletes.

McBee says “Special Olympics is important because it empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities through sports, promoting inclusion, fighting discrimination and improving their overall wellbeing. It provides opportunities for athletes to develop skills, participate in their communities and experience the joy of sport, fostering a sense of belonging and self-worth.”

DeSheilds says “Our program is supported by individual donation, private and corporate sponsorships, state appropriations, grants and special fundraising events. Your financial support offers training, equipment and competition to our athletes in your area.”

Arvest associates often get involved in Special Olympics Arkansas’ fundraising events by volunteering at the spring games and the Polar Plunge.
