One person was found to have self-evacuated from the home. It was later learned that a second person who was unaccounted for was not at the residence at the time of the fire. Two dogs were found dead by responding firefighters searching the house.
The fire engulfed the single building, which is situated further back from the street behind trees. The home had hoarder conditions, according to SFFD spokesperson Lt. Mariano Elias.
Nearby homes sustained some damage in the blaze.
Pacific Gas & Electric Company crews shut down power to the block, SFFD said. Three occupants were helped by the American Red Cross.
