NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry and Louisiana law enforcement agencies provided an update on the search for inmates who escaped from the Orleans Justice Center.
On Friday, May 16, the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office reported that multiple inmates had escaped from the jail after they were discovered missing during a routine headcount around 8:30 a.m.
Deputies and partnering law enforcement agencies announced they were searching for 10 inmates: Antoine Massey, Lenton VanBuren, Leo Tate, Derrick Groves, Jermaine Donald, Corey Boyd, Dkenan Dennis, Gary Price, Kendell Myles and Robert Moody.
According to officials with the OPSO, Myles, Moody and Dennis have been captured, while the other seven inmates remain at large.
Video released from the OPSO shows the inmates allegedly escaping the jail.
Additionally, Orleans Parish Sheriff Susan Hutson announced that three employees have been suspended without pay pending the internal investigation’s outcome.
Rewards for information in the case that leads to the capture of the inmates still at large have increased to $5,000 from the ATF in addition to $2,000 from Crimestoppers and $5,000 from the FBI.
