Chicago Spring Half Marathon and 10K underway Sunday morning downtown, street closures in effect

CHICAGO — The Chicago Spring Half Marathon and 10K is underway early Sunday morning downtown along the lakefront, with street closures in effect for the event.

The half marathon kicked off at 7 a.m. on Columbus Drive, just south of Monroe Street, then the majority of the 13.1-mile course runs along Chicago’s Lakefront Trail.

The 10-kilometer race, meanwhile, began at 7:45 a.m. at the same starting point as the half marathon. Additionally, a Junior Dash race begins at 10 a.m. at Butler Field.

All three races will then close with a Spring Market Finish Festival inside Butler Field from 8 a.m. to noon.

The following street closures are in effect downtown Sunday for the event:

  • Monroe St., all lanes from DuSable Lake Shore Drive to Columbus Dr. (reopens at 6 p.m.).
  • Columbus Dr., all lanes from Randolph St. to Monroe St. (reopens at noon).
  • Columbus Dr., all lanes from Monroe St. to Jackson Boulevard (reopens at 9 a.m.).
  • Columbus Dr., all lanes from Jackson Blvd. to Roosevelt Road (reopens at 9 a.m.).
  • Randolph St., northbound exit lane from DuSable LSD to Randolph St. (reopens at noon).
  • Intermediate Randolph St., eastbound lanes from DuSable LSD to Columbus Dr. (reopens at noon).
