LSP: Two deadly crashes on Louisiana Highway 67 under investigation

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Louisiana State Police Department investigated two deadly crashes on Louisiana Highway 67 on Friday.

In East Baton Rouge, troopers were called to La. Hwy 67 at Lemon Road around 2 a.m. During the investigation, troopers learned Alexus Lee, 25, was headed north on LA 67. For unknown reasons, Lee exited the roadway, struck a culvert, and the vehicle was left overturned. Lee was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In East Feliciana Parish, troopers were called to another crash on La. Hwy 67, near Idlewild Road, around 3:45 a.m. The investigation shows John Collins, 35, was traveling south on LA 67 at high speeds. Collins missed a right-hand curve, exited the road to the left, and struck a tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Collins was pronounced dead at the scene.

Toxicology samples were taken for both crashes.

Both crashes are ongoing investigations.
