Governor Andy Beshear took to social media to confirm at least 14 lives were lost after Friday night’s storms.
“This number is expected to grow as we receive more information,” said Beshear. “Please pray for all of our affected families.”
Beshear says the state is in “active rescue phase” and all resources are now focused on rescue efforts.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is reporting minimal roadway impacts however, officials say crews are continuing to clear downed trees in several counties from Friday night’s storms. Crews in Hancock, Hopkins and Union counties have reported trees down in numerous occasions.
