According to a news release, Reymundo Blanco has been sentenced to a total of 10 years, with seven of those being executed in the Department of Correction followed by three years of probation.
The investigation into Blanco began on Feb. 17, 2024, when officers with the Fortville Police Department were called around 9:13 a.m. to a residence in response to a reported domestic incident.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim’s sister, who informed them that Blanco was inside the residence with the victim and their mother. FPD said officers found the victim suffering from multiple physical injuries, and Blanco was detained on the scene.
Detectives later learned that Blanco had reportedly become “enraged” during an argument and physically assaulted her while threatening her with a loaded firearm. FPD said the victim suffered a broken nose and other physical trauma after she was treated at the hospital.
When officers executed a search warrant inside Blanco’s residence, they reportedly recovered three firearms. When he was questioned about the incident, FPD said Blanco blamed the victim for “inflicting injuries on herself.” He also reportedly admitted that he had firearms inside the home despite being a convicted felon.
“This was a brutal and deeply disturbing act of violence against a woman in her own home, in front of her children,” said Hancock County Prosecutor Brent Eaton.
