The position was vacated by Mayor Martin Nicholson during the regular council meeting in March. Nicholson stated during his resignation that he “cant fix the city.” The official resolution of vacancy was then read at the April 8 meeting of council and the open position was announced a few days later across various media outlets.

The oath of office was accepted and certified at Tuesday’s meeting by then acting mayor and treasurer/ recorder Renate Schmitt.
