Delaware Valley under severe thunderstorm watch until 5 p.m.
(WPHL) — Storms are forecasted to move through the Delaware Valley mid-morning, sweeping down the coast by the afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for the entire region until later in the afternoon. There is a slight risk that a few of the thunderstorms could build to a severe level. The primary threat would be gusty winds more than 60 mph, but hail and a brief tornado cannot be ruled out with today’s warmth and high humidity.
An even worse severe weather outbreak is forecasted for parts of the mid-Mississippi, Ohio, and Tennessee Valleys. Widespread wind damage and tornadoes are possible this afternoon into tonight.
