Crown Point Community School Corporation cancels classes at all buildings due to power outages

LAKE COUNTY, Ind. — A school district in Lake County, Indiana is cancelling classes due to Thursday night’s storms.

In a Facebook post, Crown Point Community School Corporation announced there will be no classes Friday at all schools and support buildings due to power outages. There will also be no e-learning.

Due to power outages from last night’s storm, including some of our schools, there will be no school at CPCSC on Friday, May 16, 2025.

This will NOT be an e-learning day.

No staff will report today except for our buildings and grounds team. If you have questions, please contact your principal or department leader.

This canceled day will not be made up at the end of the school year.

Please stay tuned for more information on the status of after school events, clubs, or sports. Your coach, sponsor, or building principal will have information later today.

More than 100,000 people across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana are still without power on Friday morning after a round of storms brought strong winds and heavy rain on Thursday evening.
