Car crash into tree ends with DUI arrest in Pacifica

(KRON) — A 23-year-old Sunnyvale man was driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs when his car collided with a tree, said the Pacifica Police Department. There were no injuries in the crash.

PPD said its officers arrived in the area of Lundy Way and Cullen Drive on May 10 at 2:08 p.m. to investigate the reported incident.

Pacifica police said the driver was identified as Joel Tejada-Mercado. Tejada-Mercado was placed under arrest and faces charges for DUI (combined alcohol and drugs) and possession of a controlled substance. “He was later released on a criminal citation at a sobering facility,” said police in a social media post.
