The magic of Harry Potter will arrive in Utah this Memorial Day weekend

SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — Get ready to enter the wizarding world of Harry Potter starting this Memorial Day weekend.

“Harry Potter: The Exhibition” is an immersive touring experience, bringing iconic moments and props from the famous franchise right to fans. In Utah, it will run from May 24 to Sept. 1 at The Shops at South Town in Sandy. Tickets are available for purchase online.

Ahead of its opening, Tom Zaller, the President and CEO of Imagine Exhibitions, met with ABC4 to give a sneak peek of what fans can expect. Perfect for the occasion, he was decked out in Harry Potter gear, and also brought some for ABC4’s anchors Matt Fontes and Alyssa Royster.

Zaller said the exhibit encompasses 30,000 square feet and over 25 rooms of Harry Potter scenes, as well as original props and costumes, including a robe that Daniel Radcliffe, who stars as Harry Potter in the series, wore.

Zaller explained that when you start at the exhibit, you get sorted into your Hogwarts House — Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, or Slytherin. From there, you continue earning points for your house while joining fun activities, such as playing Quidditch and casting spells.

He shared that he’s excited to bring the experience to the Beehive State, which is known for having many Harry Potter fans, adding that Salt Lake City and the state of Utah search for Harry Potter online more than any other state.

He said there’s something for everyone, whether you’re a superfan or haven’t read or watched the series yet. Zallers said it’s a great activity to bring the family to.

“There are fans of all ages. We’re seeing grandparents, parents, and kids come together. And absolutely people dress up. If they’re not dressed up, you can come to the gift shop and get yourself dressed up,” he said.

Zaller said they expect the exhibit to be quite popular, so fans should plan to get their tickets ahead of time.
