USA Softball selects a Collegiate Player of the Year based on performances throughout the season. Grein is the fifth player from Oregon to make the finals and the first to be named in a decade- the most recent being Cheridan Hawkins (2015).
She is 26-2 on the season with a 1.93 earned run average and has appeared in 43 games this season. Grein is 5-0 with a 0.00 ERA this season against five of the top 25 teams.
The Mokena, Ill. native has allowed 45 runs – 41 earned – on 90 hits and has 194 strikeouts in 148.2 innings pitched. She was a unanimous all-Big Ten first-team selection and has been both an NFCA and Big-Ten national pitcher of the week twice.
Grein ranks in the top 20 in the nation in strikeouts (194, 15th), strikeouts per seven innings (9.1, 13th), fewest hits allowed per seven innings (4.24, ninth) and WHIP (0.99, 18th).
On May 19, the Top 10 Finalists will be narrowed down to three players. The 2025 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be announced before the Women’s College World Series.
