Man charged in drive-by shooting in Floyd County

FLOYD COUNTY, KY (WOWK) – A man is facing charges in Kentucky in connection with shots fired from a vehicle in Floyd County over the weekend.

According to the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office, Ronald T. Ramsey of Teaberry faces two counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault in the first degree, and wanton endangerment in the first degree.

Deputies say that around 5:20 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, they and the Prestonsburg Police Department responded to a call of shots fired from one vehicle into another vehicle along US 23 at Harold.

Authorities located one of the vehicles with three people inside at the Tim Short Honda in Ivel. The sheriff’s office says those individuals said they were traveling north on US 23 when another vehicle pulled up beside them and started firing into the vehicle, striking the driver and one of the passengers.

According to the sheriff’s office, the two injured people were taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. The third person in the vehicle was not hurt in the incident.

The sheriff’s office said deputies located the suspect, identified as Ramsey, and took him into custody without incident. According to the FCSO, Ramsey was taken to the Floyd County Jail.
