Local craftsman preserves KTLO history

Neil Reinhard presents the framed Arkansas State flag to KTLO’s Heather Loftis

A local craftsman recently completed a project that will preserve a piece of KTLO’s history for many years to come.

Following the passing of Bob Knight in October of 2021 the flags that flew over the U.S. Capitol Building and the Arkansas State Capitol Building were presented to KTLO by US Senator John Boozman and State Senator Scott Flippo in honor of the much loved broadcaster. Finding a way to display these flags had been a logistical challenge for the station due to their large size. The Arkansas State flag measured at 8 feet in width leaving traditional framing methods insufficient. An idea was hatched to put the project out to the community and a listing was read and posted online on KTLO and Classic Hits The Trading Post searching for someone who could craft the large displays.

Neil Reinhard, a retired church builder and cabinet maker from Flippin, answered the request and set out to craft the needed cases so the flags could be displayed. At 84 years old it was no small task for Reinhard to complete the build as these days he focuses on smaller woodworking projects.

The flags will be displayed at the offices of KTLO on Highway 5 North in Mountain Home. The pairing of Mr. Reinhard’s talent with the power of radio stand as a fitting tribute to the broadcaster that made the focus of everyday to bring his community closer together.
