By rssfeeds-admin Principal Carolyn Kloss was thanked by the staff at the school for all of her hard work over the years by receiving a little library.
Kloss was known by students and staff for her enthusiasm for sharing books with kids. One year, she even bought a book for every single student in Hillman.
“If I can put books in kids’ hands to build their own classroom library at home or their own library at home, and that’s a gift I can leave with them, and I hope I’ve done that,” explained Kloss. “For them to get to write their name in a book and it be their and be their own is important.”
The school’s leader of 17 years said she could not imagine receiving a better gift before retiring.
“A little free library is amazing. I give books away to all the kids for their birthdays. Reading is incredibly important to me,” Kloss continued. “I give books away for prizes, we use books for our character trait monthly themes. We’ve done One School One Book, so anytime I can put a book in someone’s hands, it’s a win. So this is perfect.”
Kloss will retire at the end of the school year on June 6th.
She said she hopes to come back and visit the students as a guest reader.
