Abilene State Park pool closed for 3rd summer while undergoing renovations
ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – For the third year, Abilene State Park’s pool won’t be open for the summer season.

According to the state park, renovations for the historic Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) era pool are expected to continue through the summer of 2025. The repairs will involve demolishing and replacing the pool coping and gutter system, installing new tiles, conducting structural concrete repairs, and applying a high-performance pool coating.

“We understand how unfortunate the delay is to our visitors, but want to ensure the pool is fixed for good, not just for now,” said Craig Simpson, superintendent of Abilene State Park. “We are hopeful that these repairs will allow us to welcome visitors to the historic park pool for generations to come.”

Constructed in the 1930s, this pool was the main attraction when the park opened in 1934. Today, visitors can also enjoy activities such as hiking, biking, birdwatching, geocaching, and more.
