Stolen vehicle chase leads to arrest of 16-year-old in Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — Police chased a stolen vehicle early Wednesday morning, resulting in the arrest of a 16-year-old offender.

According to Rockford Police, officers attempted a traffic stop on the stolen vehicle when it was spotted in the area of Jonathan and Huffman Blvd around 3:16 a.m.

The vehicle sped away from police and was later spotted in the 2200 block of Auburn Street.

Police said the teen driver was arrested in the 2300 block of Benderwirt Avenue a short time later.

Authorities charged the suspect with possession of a stolen vehicle and fleeing to elude police.

He was booked into the Winnebago County Juvenile Detention Center.
