Officers received a report of a missing person on October 18, 2023, for 54-year-old Craig Allen Bennett after he failed to show up for work. During the 18-month search, officers pursued multiple leads and obtained search warrants.

Bennett’s last known location was north of Comanche, near the 800 block of County Road 403. In March 2025, officers conducted a search of the area where he was last seen, utilizing both foot searches and drones. During this search, they discovered human remains that were later identified as belonging to Bennett.

“The Sheriff’s Office extends its condolences to the family and thanks the community for its support during the investigation,” the office shared in a press release.

The remains were sent to the University of North Texas Forensic Laboratory, and there was no evidence of foul play. The remains were returned to the family.
