CHICAGO — A man was walking on a sidewalk on the Near West Side late Tuesday night when five gunmen got out of a vehicle and opened fire, killing him, according to Chicago police.

The man, who police say was approximately 20 years old, was walking on the sidewalk in the 1000 block of West 14th Street, near the University of Illinois Chicago campus, just before 11:30 p.m.

According to police, a dark-colored SUV rolled up to the man and five offenders got out. All five began shooting at the man, police say, hitting him several times in the body, then got back in the SUV and drove off.
