Man dies after swarmed by bees in Eastland

EASTLAND, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A man in Eastland has died after being swarmed by bees.

On April 27, Eastland police were dispatched to a crash in the 700 block of North Lamar Street. As officers approached the vehicle, they discovered the driver was being swarmed by bees.

Officers quickly evacuated the driver from the area, placing him in a police vehicle a safe distance away to avoid further bee stings. While in the ambulance, the driver became unresponsive and later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Officers and a local beekeeper found a large beehive in an abandoned building where the man had been mowing the lawn. Officers have arranged for the beekeeper to safely remove the hive. The man’s identity has not been released.
