During the Clovis City Council meeting on Monday evening, a Clovis resident asked the city councilmembers why the water tower near Letterman Park, near the intersection of Villa Avenue and Barstow Avenue, was only silver while other water towers (such as the one in Old Town Clovis) have color and designs on them.
“There’s nothing on the tower. It would be really nice if we had some kind of billboard, something. It has no personality.”
The Clovis resident even suggested putting a Christmas tree on the top of the tower, a suggestion that prompted laughter from the assembled councilmembers.
In response to YourCentralValley.com, the City of Clovis revealed that the water tower is actually painted silver – and the condition of the paint is considered “excellent” following its latest inspection in March.
“While there is no time frame set at this time, City staff will investigate all options, including cost of repainting in a different color, adding a logo or wording, etc. and will present those options to Council, as well as the costs,” said the City of Clovis’ Chad McCollum.
City officials added that the exterior and interior of the tank are inspected every five years.
