KidsPod is a curated podcast and audiobook streaming app designed for children aged 0-13. According to a press release, it is ad-free, intuitive, and free to use, and it has customizable parental controls. The content on the app is vetted, age-filtered, and grounded in evidence-based learning.
“It was built by moms, backed by science, and made for busy families,” Lacy said.
With her friend and cofounder Jessica Ray, Lacy said she created KidsPod after she was unable to find a safer app for her daughter to use to listen to podcasts. Lacy loves podcasts because of how much they help her daughter, who has dyslexia.
“For my daughter with dyslexia, audio has been a game-changer. She can finally access stories that once felt out of reach. Every child deserves that,” Lacy explained in a press release.
Being audio-based, podcasts and audiobooks make books and other stories accessible to a larger group of people who may not be able to read traditionally for a variety of reasons, including people with disabilities such as dyslexia.
The KidsPod app can be downloaded for free on iOS and Android at kidspod.app.
