“This is one of the most mind boggling and luxurious clocks we’ve ever had in the gallery,” Emily Otranto, a researcher at M.S. Rau Antiques, said.
Have you ever seen a clock where floating diamonds tell time? M.S. Rau Antiques is where you can be mystified by this mysterious clock.
“This clock was created in 1994 by a master clocksmith named Paul Gerber. He actually holds two world records for the most complicated watches in the world. This clock moves as if by magic,” she said.
Otranto explained how the “magic clock” works.
“It actually runs with a hidden mechanism. It took Paul Gerber two years to make, and it connects two spheres. These spheres are called sapphire glass, and it is a very intense form of crystal. The power pushes the glasses down and they move which is how you have these floating diamonds here. One of the diamonds is two karats, and the other is three karats,” she said.
She went on to say, “We call it floating, but these are the glasses, and it looks like they are floating, but it is really carefully constructed that way.”
Time is ticking. This mysterious floating diamond clock is for sale for a whopping $585,000.
“This belongs in a collector’s home. Somebody who has an eye for magnificent pieces. There’s a magic to it, and you can’t find anything else out there like it,” Otranto said.
