Ivy Tech Bloomington Offering Free Introduction to Semiconductors Workshops in July

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Ivy Tech Community College Bloomington is offering free hands-on workshops this July for high school students and adults interested in exploring careers in the growing field of semiconductor manufacturing.

The Introduction to Semiconductors Summer Sessions will take place July 14–18 for high school students and July 21–25 for adults at the Indiana Center for the Life Sciences, located at 501 N. Profile Parkway. Applications are now open.

“Participants will get hands-on experiences that pave the way for careers in the growing field of semiconductor manufacturing,” said Michael Waterford, Microelectronics and Department of Defense Employer Liaison at Ivy Tech Bloomington. “The workshops offer an entry-level overview for anyone who may be exploring career pathways or wanting to make a career change.”

Workshop activities will include circuit board assembly, soldering, robotics, automation programming, and cleanroom simulations. Attendees will also hear from local industry insiders, area companies, and hiring managers.

Lunch will be provided each day of the sessions.

The program is part of Ivy Tech’s ongoing efforts to prepare students for careers in microelectronics and advanced manufacturing. The college offers more than 40 career and four-year transfer programs, with multiple course start dates throughout the year.
