Illinois Lottery player claims $850K jackpot prize after iLotto win

CHICAGO — It can be difficult to get the workweek started, but one lucky Illinois iLottery player may have found just the trick to brighten things up: a jackpot lottery win.

The big winner snagged the jackpot prize after they matched all five numbers during Monday’s midday Lucky Day Lotto drawing, officials from the Illinois Lottery said.

According to officials, the winning numbers from Monday’s midday drawing were 6, 11, 23, 28 and 30.

Officials offered details about the big win on Tuesday morning, but did not disclose the name of the winner.

After taxes, the big winner could end up taking home around $603,925, which equals out to around $204,000 in federal taxes and $42,075 in state taxes, according to TaxAct’s Lottery Tax Calculator.

Lucky Day Lotto, which is exclusively sold in Illinois, draws twice a day, at 12:40 p.m. and 9:22 p.m., and tickets can be purchased in-store, online, or on the Illinois Lottery app.

Lucky Day Lotto costs $1 per game and players have a 1 in 12 chance of winning a prize, but jackpot odds are much higher at 1 in 1,221,759. For $1 extra, players can also add EZmatch numbers to their ticket for a chance to claim an extra prize.

The jackpot picked up just one of over 23,700 winning tickets that were sold for Monday’s midday drawing, which netted players over $917,000 in prizes. So far this year, over 3.8 million winning Lucky Day Lotto tickets have been sold, which netted players over $24.5 million.

Illinois Lottery winners have one year from the date of winning to claim their prizes and lottery officials advise players to write their names on the backs of winning tickets and keep them in a safe place until they are ready to claim their prizes.
