CHICAGO — The Ventra app is currently down, affecting Chicagoland commuters Monday.

Social media users started reporting issues with the app on both Metra and the CTA around 6 a.m.

A Metra spokesperson says the rail system is aware the Ventra app is down. Passengers can still ride trains and do not have to pay, according to Metra.

It is unknown at this time when the app will be back up and working.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
