Zionsville Community Schools said the outage affected some school buildings, leading to the decision. The district expected another update at 8 a.m.
As of 6:30 a.m., Boone REMC reported 3,376 outages.
“We are aware of a large outage in the Eagle and Worth township areas,” the utility wrote on social media. “Thank you for your patience as our Operations team investigates the cause and works to restore power as quickly and safely as possible.”
The company said a raccoon was the reason behind the outage.
“Our linemen discovered quite a bit of damage to a substation caused by a raccoon,” Boone REMC said in an update. “Thanks for your continued patience as they make necessary repairs!”
By 8:15 a.m., Boone REMC’s outage map showed power had been restored.
