According to court documents, Sonny Kennedy Jr. was charged in Delaware County for:
At around 2:36 a.m. on April 10, an officer was patrolling in the area of 26th Street and Madison Street. The officer went to a gas station in the area of 3300 S. Madison Street when he reportedly saw a man who “appeared to be unconscious” in a 2004 Dodge Durango.
The man was later identified as Kennedy. According to the court documents, the officer reportedly saw an open alcohol container in the vehicle when he was talking with Kennedy. The officer also reportedly saw that Kennedy had a firearm on him.
When Kennedy was ordered to exit the vehicle, Kennedy reportedly told officers at that time that he had marijuana on him. However, during a search of his vehicle, officials allegedly located a backpack that had a yellow plastic bag inside that contained various amounts of powder-like substances and pills, including crack-cocaine, cocaine and heroin, alongside the marijuana.
In an interview with Kennedy, he reportedly admitted to selling drugs in the past, but “claimed he was unaware of the substances located in the vehicle.”
According to court documents, Kennedy Jr. bonded out of Delaware County with a $75,000 surety bond on Friday.
