Crews respond to fire at vacant school building in Oakland

(KRON) — Crews responded to a fire that broke out Sunday afternoon, according to the Oakland Fire Department. The fire broke out at an abandoned former adult school on the 2500 block of Church Street.

The building was home to the Adult Evening School, which closed more than 35 years ago, according to state records.

KRON4 was at the scene and took video of the damage caused by the fire. Watch in video player above.

As of 5:17 p.m., crews are still responding to the fire, according to an X post by Oakland Firefighters.

No injuries were reported. No one was displaced because of the fire, OFD said.
