According to a press release from Indiana State Police, around 9 a.m., troopers were investigating a report they had received about a person driving a GMC Yukon recklessly.
During their investigation, police located a two-vehicle crash at mile marker 163 of I-65. ISP indicated that the crash occurred about five miles north of State Road 28, near the Tippecanoe-Clinton County line.
ISP confirmed that a 2003 Yukon and a 2020 Isuzu truck were the vehicles involved in the crash.
After a preliminary investigation, police determined that the driver of the Yukon sideswiped the Isuzu truck while travelling northbound on I-65. The Yukon rolled over and its driver was ejected after the sideswiping occurred.
ISP reported that the Isuzu truck remained upright during the crash but came to rest in a ditch.
The Tippecanoe County Coroner’s Office pronounced the Yukon’s driver dead at the scene. The Isuzu’s driver was not injured in the crash.
ISP indicated that the coroner’s office will release the identity of the Yukon’s driver after their family has been properly notified of their death.
