The aquarium announced the newest addition to its “animal family” in a press release Friday. The otter pup was born on March 29, 2024, at Woodland Park Zoo in Washington to parents Valkyrie and Ziggy. She lived there until she was transferred to the Loveland Living Planet Aquarium on April 29, 2025.
“We are thrilled to welcome this playful otter pup to our Aquarium family,” Layne Pitcher, Vice President of Marketing and Operations, is quoted in the release. “Not only will our visitors enjoy watching her energetic behavior, but they’ll also gain a deeper appreciation for the rivers and wetlands she represents.”
Although she doesn’t have a name yet, the public can submit their name ideas and vote online here. Participants who submit otter names will be given a chance to win two daytime tickets and an otter plush toy.
The aquarium currently has a male river otter named Oscar, and says that the animal husbandry team will “take a thoughtful approach to their introductions, ensuring a gradual and positive experience for both animals.”
Guests at the aquarium can look forward to seeing the otter pup in her habitat as she gets acquainted with her new home.
