RAYNE, La. (KLFY) — Festival organizers say this year, security will look a little different when it comes to entering the frog festival and ensuring safety for festival goers. 

“We’re a gated festival, so we only have one entrance this year.” Leonards said.

Marietta Leonards, chairman for the Rayne Frog Festival, said security measures will look a little different this year. A clear bag policy will be implemented along with festival goers having to walk through a security gate for entry. Another rule that would be enforced is that no weapons will be allowed, and everyone will be subjected to a wand search.

“This is our first year implementing that type of procedure.” Leonards said. “So gauging other festivals that have implemented it already, it might be a little bit longer to get in, but we try to ensure that the lines flow.”

Leonards said with the new security measures, it could take more time to get into the festival, but the goal is to keep a consistent flow and ensure the safety for everyone. She said there has been positive feedback on organizers taking a more secure approach for this year’s festival as people are beginning to expect it.

“This has been a good, clean festival. We don’t have trouble, but probably other places haven’t had those troubles either. It’s just the way it is, and we would like to protect everybody here.” Leonards said.

The 53rd annual Frog Festival is this weekend until May 10th and everyone is invited to come out and have ribbit-ting time.
