GE Appliances is expanding its portfolio of room air conditioners (ACs) with advanced new GE brand and GE Profile models featuring inverter and heat-pump technologies.
The high-performance portable and window units are also equipped with customizable functions and consumer-centric designs that provide a solution for every household’s preferences and needs, GE said, from temperature control and energy efficiency to appearance.
“Temperature is a deeply personal preference, with everyone having their own ideal level of comfort,” said Daryl Williams, GE’s executive director of global specialty products. “Whether you’re cooling down on a hot summer day or warming up during chilly evenings, the versatility offered across these new lineups provides even more tailored solutions that meet those individual needs.”
The new introductions include the GE Profile line of dual-hose, inverter portable ACs. Delivering 10,000 and 12,000 BTUs, the platform is engineered with cutting-edge inverter technology that adjusts cooling power to maintain a desired temperature and conserve energy usage. The result: up to 75% more energy efficient operation than a minimum efficiency model of comparable capacity, the manufacturer said.
What’s On Board
The line is also packed with convenient features that provide advanced temperature control and flexibility, including:
- An innovative dual hose system that delivers increased air flow for faster, more efficient cooling. The 12,000 BTU model also features powerful heat pump technology to enable additional heating capabilities for all-season comfort.
- Three cooling modes, three fan speeds and a built-in dehumidifier for maximum convenience and versatility, and quiet operation as low as 42 dBA.
- A sleek, contemporary design combined with high-tech features like Wi-Fi connectivity and geolocation technology, which automatically activates “Home” or “Away” mode based on the proximity of an owner’s phone to automatically adjust the temperature and maximize overall efficiency.
- Easy customization via a digital LED display, handheld remote or GE’s SmartHQ app that enables voice control to manage settings remotely.
The unit is currently available in 10,000 BTU, which efficiently cools medium-sized rooms up to 450 square feet, for a suggested retail price of $579. A 12,000 BTU model for cooling larger rooms up to 550 square feet will be available in June, and will carry a suggested sticker price of $629.
GE Smart Heat/Cool AC
The GE-branded AC entries offer better cooling efficiency and heating performance at cooler temperatures, all while lowering operation costs, the company said. Key features include:
- Maximum performance thanks to heat pump and advanced inverter technology that drives energy efficient operation.
- A compact, easy-to-install design that seamlessly fits more windows. Available in 8,000 and 11,000 BTUs, both models are also equipped with a standard 115-volt outlet for greater installation flexibility and compatibility.
- Enhanced comfort with three cooling modes, three heating modes and three fan speeds, for personalized year-round comfort.
- Seamless customization to achieve the perfect temperature using the remote control or by managing settings and monitoring the AC remotely with the Wi-Fi enabled SmartHQ app.
The GE Smart Heat/Cool with heat pump window AC is currently available in 8,000 BTU to cool medium-sized rooms at a manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $489, while the 11,000 BTU model, made for larger rooms, is priced to hit a suggested $599 retail.
Paint it Black
There’s also a GE black window AC line featuring a modern black design that seamlessly compliments black windowpanes and provides a stylish departure from standard white room air conditioners.
Available in 5,000 or 6,000 BTUs, the black window AC is engineered to deliver total flexibility, optimal comfort, convenience and style, GE said. The unit offers enhanced performance and ideal temperature and comfort by distributing cool air evenly throughout the room plus an easy-to-operate interface, all entry-level price points.
Ideal for small rooms up to 250 square feet, the GE black 5,000 BTU mechanical window AC is currently available at an MSRP of $159, while the GE Black 6,000 BTU electronic window AC is available at an MSRP of $219.
“We’re excited to introduce our expanded AC portfolio that grants greater accessibility to expertly designed solutions at every price point,” added Williams, “empowering homeowners to have more control over their environment, comfort and energy usage.”
