Frog Festival brings culture and economic growth to Rayne

Frog Festival brings culture and economic growth to Rayne
RAYNE, La. (KLFY) — When it comes to the annual Frog Festival, festival organizers say it’s one event they look forward to every year, especially because the festival’s impact on the city is huge.

Great food, live music, and frog activities for everyone, the 53rd annual Rayne Frog Festival is here, and festival organizers couldn’t be happier. The festival’s impact on Rayne is a huge one, according to Denise Brignac with the Rayne Chamber of Commerce. She said it promotes tourism and helps local businesses with commerce.

“We depend on the festival proceeds to help us do all of those things and as well as the city.” Brignac said.

Suzette Leonards with the city of Rayne said they saw an increase in people coming to the city to experience Rayne’s culture, and of course, the frogs.

“We do also see a huge influx of people in our hotels.” Leonards said. “They also get to see our beautiful city, and we love that. They go around and look at the murals and the statues and embrace the whole city as well as the festival.”

With the recent flooding Rayne experienced, both Brignac and Leonards said this is needed in the city because of the businesses that were affected in addition to the time, effort, and resources that went into putting the festival together.

“It’s very important in many ways for the chamber, for the City of Rayne, and for our parish.” Brignac said.

“The Frog Festival is something that we work towards all year long. So, we’re excited and hope to have everyone here,” Leondards said.

The 53rd annual Frog Festival is this weekend until May 10th, and everyone is invited to come out and have ribbit-ting time.
