Three hospitalized after boat struck by lightning near Venice

PLAQUEMINES PARISH, La. (WGNO) — In Plaquemines Parish, three people were injured when their fishing boat was hit by lightning.

It happened near Venice around 12:30 p.m. on Friday, May 9. The parish’s homeland security department says it happened while there was also a tornado warning in the area.

We’re told the boat made it back to shore and all three people were taken to University Medical Center with mild to moderate injuries.
