The Philadelphia Eagles were honored in both the State House and the State Senate, and they brought the hardware with them: Two Lombardi trophies that go to Super Bowl Champions. Lawmakers got to pose with them, and especially for the Philadelphia delegation, it was an exciting day.
“I grew up in the early 2000s when we made it to the NFC championships, but we never got a Super Bowl,” said Rep. Sean Dougherty (D-Philadelphia). “To have two in the past seven or eight years is really just surreal and incredible, but to see them live and in person, you get the feeling that the players get when they get a hold of that.”
Western Pennsylvania lawmakers did remind their Philadelphia colleagues that the Steelers have six Super Bowls to the Eagles two. As a state, Pennsylvania has eight, second only to California.
