Driver dies after veering off road into water: CHP Marin

(KRON) — The California Highway Patrol Marin Area office is investigating a deadly crash after a car drove off the road and was partially submerged in water.

CHP said the incident happened at 10:31 a.m. Thursday on State Route 37, just east of State Route 121, in an unincorporated area of Sonoma County.

The driver of the Mazda sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene, said CHP. The victim’s identity is being withheld until next of kin has been notified.

CHP said the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and its Coroner Division responded to the incident and will be investigating the death.

The cause of the crash is being probed by the California Highway Patrol.
