2025 CIM-Bedford Canadian Young Mining Leaders Awards

This past week, the Bedford Team celebrated the winners of the CIM Canadian Young Mining Leaders Awards (sponsored by Bedford Group/TRANSEARCH) at the Caterpillar Inc. Awards Gala in Montreal.

We are honoured to provide more detail on this year’s winners:

• For her leadership and for driving sustainability and innovation to over 20 mines globally, Hannah
  Lang (Manager, Digital Solutions at MineSense Technologies Ltd.)
• For her exceptional leadership and commitment to the community and to the Quebec mining industry, Annabelle Rioux, CRHA (Director of Human Resources at Eldorado Gold).
• For his role in the discovery and advancement of the Phoenix deposit, expected to be Canada’s first ISR/in-situ uranium mine and a landmark project for the industry, Chad Sorba (VP Technical Services & Project Evaluation at Denison Mines Corp.)
• For his inspirational leadership, integrity and dedication to social impact, which continue to make a lasting impression in the mining industry, Benjamin Scott (Project Manager at B2Gold Corp.)

Thank you once again to the CIM (Canadian Institute of Mining, Metallurgy and Petroleum) committee for putting together such a wonderful event.

CIM CONNECT took place on May 4-7 in Montreal, QC and was focused on “Minerals, Innovation, and the Energy Transition” to reflect the industry’s evolving focus from the extraction process (“mining”) to the economic value of the product (“minerals”).

This shift emphasizes the importance of circularity, which goes beyond traditional mining by considering the recovery of materials that have already been extracted, such as tailings and other secondary sources. While achieving full circularity remains a long-term goal, this theme has encouraged forward-thinking and innovative approaches to sourcing minerals. It underscores the need to adapt to changing economic and environmental landscapes, promoting sustainable practices and technological advancements that will shape the future of the industry.
