GALLERY: Budweiser Clydesdales delight military families at Dyess Air Force

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – For the first time since 2019, the Budweiser Clydesdales are back in Abilene! These beloved symbols of American tradition visited Dyess Air Force Base earlier today for a special meet-and-greet event with airmen and their families.

The iconic horses arrived at the Base Exchange, where they greeted attendees, military members, and their families. The Clydesdales then traveled to several other locations around the base, providing even more personnel with the opportunity to experience these majestic horses up close.

This visit was part of the Clydesdales’ tour in the Abilene area, where they are supporting the Western Heritage Classic. While in the region, the Budweiser team extended a special invitation to Dyess Air Force Base, marking their second appearance at the installation.

The people at the base were excited by the chance to meet the famous horses that have long represented both Budweiser and American heritage. The event offered a memorable experience for airmen and their families, creating a moment of camaraderie and excitement amidst their service.

“Everybody loves the Clydesdales, everybody loves the dogs, the Dalmatians. So it’s very important for us to come out here and support them as military families, and everybody gets to see the horse’s history,” Sales Manager for Ben E. Keith, Graig Jackson, shared. “It’s also cool you get to see the people, talk about the horses, talk about their names, and all the traditions. So it’s wonderful. They’re unbelievable creatures once you see them up close and personal.”

Budweiser introduced the Clydesdales in 1933 to celebrate the end of Prohibition, and they have been a major part of the company’s advertising ever since. If you would like to see the horses before they leave Key City, they will be gearing up near the Big Country Beer Garden before the Western Heritage Classic parade on Thursday and will be attending the event.
