East Idaho News welcomes new faces to the newsroom

IDAHO FALLS — Readers may have noticed a few new bylines at EastIdahoNews.com.

Our newsroom recently had a shakeup due to the departure of longtime reporter Andrea Olson in January. She had her first baby and is devoting time to being a stay-at-home mom. However, you’ll still be seeing her byline occasionally, as she will be freelancing for us.

We also recently lost reporter David Pace, who had been with us for about a year. He took a job as U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo’s press secretary. He will travel around the state and work with the media to further the senator’s message.

Although our newsroom misses them both, we wish them well in their future endeavors.

We have hired two additional reporters and are still looking to expand our reporting staff in Idaho Falls.

In February, we hired Daniel V. Ramirez from the Post Register in Idaho Falls. He is an Idaho Falls native and a 2017 graduate of Skyline High School. He got his start in journalism at The Argonaut, the student newspaper at the University of Idaho in Moscow. During his senior year, Daniel was part of the student news staff that reported on the quadruple homicide case in which four University of Idaho students were murdered.

Ramirez was selected for a Voces of Idaho internship, which placed him at the Idaho Statesman in Boise. In late 2023, he returned to his hometown to take a job at the Post Register.

He joins EastIdahoNews.com as a general assignment reporter who specializes in the cops and courts beat. We are happy to have him. If you would like to contact Ramirez, please email him at daniel.ramirez@eastidahonews.com.

In April, we hired Lisa Lete to fill an open slot in our Pocatello bureau. Lete is originally from Hailey and grew up in rural eastern Idaho. An Idaho State University graduate, Lete has had a lengthy career in media, working for the Idaho State Journal in Pocatello, Bingham Chronicle in Blackfoot and the Blackfoot Morning News. She is also an author of children’s books, and a longtime copywriter for radio, television, print and online ads.

Lete has been freelancing with EastIdahoNews.com since September, and we are thrilled to bring her on full-time as a general assignment reporter. If you have a tip for Lete, please email her at lisa.lete@eastidahonews.com.
