By rssfeeds-admin HARVEY, LA. (WGNO) — A Jefferson Parish school is closed following the severe weather on Wednesday, May 7.
Officials with West Jefferson High School in Harvey said due to the power outage, school has been canceled.
Currently, there is no expected restoration time.
Up to 8,000 Entergy customers were without power on the Westbank after heavy rain and winds moved across the area Wednesday afternoon.
Neighborhoods in the area saw downed powerlines and broken tree limbs in the streets.
“We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding,” said JP school officials.
