3 alleged Northwest Side street gang members accused of various violent crimes

CHICAGO (WGN) — A federal superseding indictment returned Wednesday charges three alleged Chicago street gang members with conspiracy to commit multiple murders and carjackings throughout the city and suburbs. 

According to the federal indictment, 23-year-old Edson Resendez, 24-year-old Maverick Cela, and 24-year-old Prezila Apreza are accused of committing the violent acts as part of their association with the Spanish Gangster Disciplines, a street gang based in Chicago’s Northwest Side. 

The federal indictment further alleges that over two weeks in 2020, the trio, along with others, allegedly committed three murders, two attempted murders, four carjackings, and attempted carjacking and an act of arson.

All three charged hail from Chicago and remain in police custody.

As of this writing, arraignments for the three charged have not yet occurred.
