Smoke pouring near Union Square prompts ‘avoid the area’ warning

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The San Francisco Fire Department is telling people to avoid the area of Geary and Jones streets as it investigates smoke coming from the Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) vault.

The incident was reported at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood near Union Square.

SFFD units are currently working in the area. PG&E has been alerted of the incident and is responding to the location, says SFFD.
