Rockford Fire Department responds to Jefferson Street bridge water rescue

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WTVO) — The Rockford Fire Department responded to reports of a person in the water beneath the Jefferson Street Bridge on Wednesday morning.

Rescue teams responded to the 100 block of W. Jefferson around 9:10 a.m.

Authorities said the victim “self-rescued” and was able to get to shore.

Paramedics on the scene evaluated the victim, but authorities were unable to give an update on their condition.

Authorities were also unable to say what circumstances led to the victim going in the water.
