Man faces attempt murder for assaulting elderly woman, Shreveport police say

SHREVEPORT, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – Shreveport police say a man arrested for assaulting an elderly woman while delivering food to a woman is facing attempted second-degree murder charges.

Police arrested Joe White for allegedly attacking an 86-year-old woman who was delivering food to his mother on May 3 in the 7300 block of Camelback Drive. SPD said White barricaded himself inside the house following the assault, but they arrested him a short time later without incident.

Originally, White was facing one count of second-degree battery; however, after SPD detectives spoke with doctors at Ochsner LSU on Monday, May 5, about the condition and reviewed the list of injuries that the victim sustained, police upgraded his offense to one count of attempted second-degree murder.
