Roger Silvers, 34, was arrested at his residence on Louisiana Highway 1193 after fleeing the scene of an alleged theft at the Walmart in Mansura. Deputies said Silvers left the store in a black BMW and refused to stop for responding officers.
The pursuit involved coordinated efforts from the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Office, Marksville Police Department, and Tunica Biloxi Tribal Police. Authorities said the chase ended when Silvers arrived at his home at 916 La. Hwy 1193 and attempted to hide inside the residence.
Deputies negotiated with Silvers, who surrendered without further incident.
He was booked on charges of aggravated flight from an officer, theft, and several other violations. Specific details of additional charges were not immediately released.
Avoyelles Parish Sheriff David L. Dauzat commended the responding agencies for their teamwork and professionalism.
“This case is an example of the dedication and coordination among our law enforcement partners,” Dauzat said. “We appreciate the swift action that helped bring this situation to a safe resolution.”
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Avoyelles Parish Sheriff’s Communications Center at (318) 253-4000 or email info@AvoyellesSO.org.
