This week, many painters may be spotted around the area as they seek the perfect painting spot for the 17th annual Plein Air on the White River event at Gaston’s Resort.
The event kicks off Tuesday morning with a Workshop by Judge Susan Hurst from 9 to 4. Participants can then register from 8 to 4 on Wednesday and Thursday with late registration being available on Friday by meeting which can be scheduled by calling 870-321-0549. Also on Thursday, Hurst will give a demo at 4 with a Get Together Barbecue following from 5 to 6.
The main event begins Friday with the Quick Draw, a judged event in which artists have one hour to complete a painting, from 4:30 to 5:30 with check in at 4.
Saturday is the big day when artists turn in their paintings for judging at the Conference Center from 9 to 10:30. Judging will take place from 10:30 to 11:30. After the judging, paintings will be on display for viewing or for purchase.
Dana Johnson, treasurer for White River Artists, says judge Susan Hurst, and many other artists, come from all over for this event.
