United planes clip wings at SFO Monday night

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Two United Airlines planes clipped wings with one another on the tarmac at San Francisco International Airport on Monday night. The incident occurred while one of the planes was pushing back from the gate, according to a spokesperson for the airline.

No injuries occurred and passengers on both planes deplaned. The airline said it was working with passengers to rebook them on other flights.

Both planes involved were Boeing 777s. One of the planes, UA877, bound for Hong Kong, had 306 passengers and 16 crew aboard. The other one, UA863, bound for Sydney, had 202 passengers and 16 crew.
