JUAB COUNTY, Utah (ABC4) — Southbound traffic on I-15 in Juab County is being diverted due to a diesel fuel leak. The Utah Department of Transportation posted that there was a hazmat situation closing the road just before 12:30 p.m.
According to Utah Highway Patrol, a semi truck driving southbound lost its driveline while on the freeway, roughly four miles north of Mona. It punctured the fuel tanks, leading to a diesel fuel leak.
There were no injuries, and no other cars were involved, UHP said. The road is closed while crews work on cleaning up the fuel spill.
Drivers in the area are being diverted off of exit 233 to Mona. The southbound lanes will remain closed until hazmat crews clear the spill. UHP expects it to take roughly an hour.
